    Life and work. Born in Birmingham to a working-class Irish Catholic family, Arthur Ward had an entirely working class education and early career before beginning to write. He initially pursued a career as a civil servant before concentrating on writing full-time. He worked as a poet, songwriter and comedy sketch writer for Music hall performers before creating the Sax Rohmer persona . Also included is the full-length novel Brood of the Witch-Queen, one of the finest novels of Egyptian horror ever published. This signed limited edition is just copies. The dustjacket is the work of David Ho, with the interior illustrations by Swiss artist Gwabryel.
