Although far from being my favorite of Barker's novels, Mister B. Gone is still a good "read," at least in audio book form. Its dark, playful tone reminded me a bit of The Thief of Always, as both books could sort of fall into that "horror novel for children" category. Mister B.

Gone, however, is certainly the darker and less-playful of the two/5(). "Mister B. Gone" is rather unique in that it goes beyond the normal first person narrative, stating clearly that not only is Mr. B the story-teller, he is actually the book itself.

Mr B (also known as Jakobak Botch) is a minor demon who tells a tale of coming up from Hell and dealing with humans, angels, and other demons on Earth/5.

Gone is a huge disappointment. This reads more like his children's stories than his adult books, even though it was shelved with the adult books. The premise is very simple -- that the book contains a demon which is speaking directly to the reader -- /5(24).

Mister B Gone I have been a fan of Clive Barker for many years however felt that with the release of Galiee he had lost his writing style and had now the writing style of Steven King. Mister B Gone reverts back to his original style of the books of blood etc and makes this book one of the best I have read in a long time.4/5(12).

is the person reading the book. Barker's gimmick, that Botch is trapped in the book and is trying to convince the reader to burn it, is interesting, but it is a gimmick nonetheless.
